Mit“Hard Groove” gelang dem Trompeter Roy Hargrove vor zwanzig Jahren ein bahnbrechendes und Genre sprengendes Album, auf dem er Jazz, Funk Hip-Hop und Rhythm’n’Blues vermischte. Aus heutiger Sicht wirkt das Album, das nun zum 20-jährigen Jubiläum auf Doppel-Vinyl wiederveröffentlicht wird, in mancher Hinsicht wie eine Blaupause für Robert Glaspers “Black Radio”-Projekte, bei denen zehn Jahre später viele von Hargroves Gästen erneut auftauchten.
